Vita

 

  • Has been admitted as an Attorney at Law in New York (USA) since 1997 and as a Rechtsanwalt in Germany since 1999. Since 2005, he is also a Professor of Law for Civil and Competition and Intellectual Property Law at the University of Applied Sciences in Trier/Birkenfeld.

 

  • Studied at the universities of Konstanz (Dr. jur.) and Lausanne, Switzerland, as well as at Emory University, School of Law (LL.M.), Atlanta, USA. Afterwards, he was an assistant at the University of Konstanz, working on a long term project „Internationalization of Economy“ sponsored by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) and completed his doctoral thesis with Prof. Dr. Dres. h.c. Werner F. Ebke, LL.M. (UC Berkeley) on “International Cooperation and Liability of International Service Firms”.

 

  • Thereafter, he completed a stage with the European Commission, Merger Task Force, in Brussels. Between 1999 and 2008 he worked as an attorney for leading international law firms.

 

  • Is a member of the Studienvereinigung Kartellrecht (German Competition Lawyers Association), Kartellrechtsforum Frankfurt (Antitrust Forum Frankfurt), Verein zur Förderung des Deutschen, Europäischen und Vergleichenden Wirtschaftsrechts (Association for the Promotion of the
    German, European, and Comparative Economic Law), DIS – Deutsche Institution für Schiedsverfahren (German Institution of Arbitration), and the Kolloquium Internationales Kartell und Wirtschaftsrecht (Kolloquium for International Antitrust and Economic Law).

  • Handled proceedings in case of the abuse of dominant positions.
  • Acted as a judge in arbitration proceedings in antitrust, corporate and commercial matters.
  • Published numerous articles and is a co-author of the German Antitrust-commentary “Immenga/Mestmäcker”
